Admissions Cougar Commitment

Making education accessible

This program is our commitment to making WSU accessible to students from low to middle income families. Cougar Commitment awards pay full tuition and required fees, and are renewable for up to three additional years (a total of 8 semesters of continuous enrollment).

Eligibility

You can qualify if you:

  • Are from a low or middle income family in Washington and are receiving the State Need Grant or Pell Grant;
  • Apply to WSU for admission by January 31 and enroll as a full-time freshman or transfer student (at least 12 semester credit hours);
  • Complete the FAFSA no later than January 31;
  • Submit verification documentation if requested by Student Financial Services.

As a general example, if you’re from a family of four with an income of $46,500 or less, you could attend Washington State University tuition-free.

Please note that this program is only available for the academic year (i.e. fall and spring semesters), and the established value may vary slightly from when final decisions are made on actual tuition and mandatory fee rates.
