Award amount varies
This program is our commitment to making WSU accessible to students from low- to middle-income families. Cougar Commitment promises to pay the balance of full-time tuition and mandatory fees not covered by either the Pell Grant or Washington College Grant*, and is renewable for up to three additional years (a total of 8 semesters of continuous enrollment).
*Based on recent changes to this program, Cougar Commitment eligibility is dependent on institutional funding availability.
You can qualify if you:
- Are from a low- or middle-income family in Washington and are receiving the Washington College Grant* or Pell Grant;
- Apply to WSU for admission by March 15 and enroll as a full-time freshman or transfer student (at least 12 semester credit hours);
- Complete the FAFSA or WASFA no later than February 15;
- Submit verification documentation if requested by Student Financial Services.
As a general example, if you’re from a family of four with an income of $46,500 or less, you could attend Washington State University tuition-free.
Please note that this program is only available for the academic year (i.e. fall and spring semesters), and the established value may vary slightly from when final decisions are made on actual tuition and mandatory fee rates.
