Answers to some common questions
What is the Regents Scholars Program deadline?
Deadlines are posted on the Regents Scholars program deadlines page.
For fall 2012 Regents Scholar awards, nominations must be made by November 13, 2011. Students must complete the admission and scholarship applications by December 11.
Information on the following year's Regents Scholars Program dates and deadlines will be posted in the fall.
When can I make nominations?
High schools and Native American tribes are invited to nominate students in the fall of every year.
Can I receive other scholarships and a Regents Scholarship?
Generally, yes. Regents Scholar awards can be combined with other scholarships and financial aid, up to the full amount of WSU resident tuition. However, the Regents Scholars award cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award (UAA) or the National Merit award.
Does a nomination guarantee a Regents Scholarship?
No, a nomination does not guarantee a scholarship award. Students must complete the Regents Scholars process by the published deadlines and meet the academic criteria to receive a Regents Scholar award.
Do I need a certain GPA or test score to qualify?
There is no prescribed minimum. However, the standards are very high. Most students who have received Regents Scholarships have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.8 or better and have strong scores on the SAT or ACT.

Does it matter if the student applied to WSU before being nominated for a Regents Scholarship?
No. As long as the nomination and recommendation forms and the student's applications are submitted to WSU before the Regents Scholars deadline, they will be matched in the WSU scholarship system.
What do I do after I've been nominated?
When you've been nominated, WSU will notify you of your next steps via email. The next steps for student nominees are also posted on the Regents Scholars website.
How will I be notified if I win a scholarship?
Notification will be sent by WSU Scholarship Services to students and to their nominators. An official scholarship offer will be mailed from WSU Scholarship Services to all scholarship winners. Regents Scholar award winners will also be announced on this website.
