Scholarships

Future Cougars of Color

About the scholarships

Everyone who attends the Future Cougars of Color (FCOC) event can receive a scholarship. Scholarships are offered in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per year, and are renewable for up to three additional years.

In order to qualify for scholarships through the Future Cougars of Color program, students must attend the entire event.

How the scholarships are awarded

Award amounts are determined by interviews with WSU faculty members, participation in group activities, and by a portfolio of your academic and personal achievements.

A faculty committee reviews the scholarship application, the portfolio, and the results of the interviews and activities, and then selects students for varying award levels.

The awards are announced by mail following the event.

Preparing for the scholarship process

After registering for the FCOC event, you'll receive information on what to expect and what materials you should prepare.

If you can't attend

If you can't attend the event, you won't be eligible for Future Cougars of Color scholarships — but that's not the end of the story.

Filling out the WSU scholarship application means you'll automatically be considered for hundreds of other scholarships from WSU.

There are also many other opportunities to visit campus throughout the year. See our student visits site for more information.
