JOIN THE COUGAR FAMILY
You’re considered a transfer student for admission purposes if you have attended college after the summer following high school graduation. There are no credit minimums or course requirements to be eligible to transfer.

The application priority date is August 7.
After you’re admitted, we’ll create a transfer credit report that details exactly how your coursework will transfer to WSU.

Out of State?

How will your associate’s degree from a Washington community college meet WSU graduation requirements?
Types of Transfer Degrees
Washington State Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) associate’s degree: Satisfies lower-division UCORE (general education) and grants junior standing. This includes DTA-Major Related Programs degrees.
Washington State associate in science-transfer (AS-T) degree: Satisfies most of lower-division UCORE, grants junior standing, and incorporates STEM-related major requirements.
Out-of-State transfer degrees: May satisfy lower-division UCORE if general education framework approximates UCORE.
Other degrees: Evaluation on a course-by-course basis only.
Transfer courses will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis to fulfill University Common Requirements (UCORE), major requirements, or elective credits. If you have not completed a degree, we can help you complete it with WSU courses via reverse transfer.

The Honors College
Looking for a challenge? Through an enriched curriculum, mentoring by expert faculty, undergraduate research and study abroad programs, the Honors College provides students the opportunity to challenge themselves in an engaged academic community. Students in any major can participate in the Honors College.

The average mid-career salary for WSU graduates with a bachelor’s degree is $110,100, ranked among the top 16% of 4-year universities in the U.S. (PayScale College Salary Report 2020-21)

Application Checklist
- Complete the transfer application and pay $70 application fee.
- Have official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended sent to WSU. If you have less than one full year of transfer work, send your official high school transcripts as well. - Complete the WSU General Scholarship Application by January 31 to be considered for 700+ WSU scholarship programs. Complete the FAFSA or WASFA by March 31.
- Optional: Complete the Honors College application and essay. honors.wsu.edu
University Writing Portfolio
All WSU students complete a writing portfolio upon reaching 60 semester credits (usually before the end of their junior year) as a graduation requirement. Keep copies of your current coursework. You can include original, graded papers from any college course in your portfolio.
