WSU Cougar Commitment

Award amount varies

This program is our commitment to making WSU accessible to students from low- to middle-income families. Cougar Commitment – WSU has committed to covering tuition and mandatory fees for most Washington residents who could not otherwise afford to attend.

Eligibility

You can qualify if you:

  • Are from a low- or middle-income family in Washington and are receiving the Washington College Grant* or Pell Grant;
  • Apply to WSU for admission by March 31 and enroll as a full-time first-year or transfer student (at least 12 semester credit hours);
  • Complete the FAFSA or WASFA no later than January 31;
  • Submit verification documentation if requested by Student Financial Services.

As a general example, if you’re from a family of four with an income of $46,500 or less, you could attend Washington State University tuition-free.

Please note that this program is only available for the academic year (i.e. fall and spring semesters), and the established value may vary slightly from when final decisions are made on actual tuition and mandatory fee rates.
