WSU Study Abroad

Education abroad isn’t just one single thing or program — there are literally hundreds of opportunities. Whatever way suits you best, the WSU International Programs office is devoted to helping you get going. It’s a life-changing academic adventure you don’t want to miss.

1. Faculty-led programs

These programs are developed specifically for WSU students and led by WSU faculty. Most of these programs run during the summer, though a few run during the school year. They generally range from 10 days to 8 weeks long and are open to students in any major.

2. Exchanges

If you want complete immersion in another culture, our exchange programs are the answer. You’ll enroll directly at a foreign university for a semester or a year, sponsored by WSU or the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), but you will pay WSU tuition. Best of all, your WSU financial aid and scholarships still apply. Space is limited, so exchange admission may be competitive.

3. Academic internships

Academic credit, work experience, and the benefit of living in another country — all at once. Internships are available all over the world and range from 2 weeks in the summer to a semester or a full year. Often, they can be arranged through study abroad.

4. Study abroad programs

Study abroad programs can be a summer, a semester, or a year in length, and can often be combined with internship credit. These programs are run by international education organizations that contract with universities in the U.S. and abroad. The Global Learning Department can help you find and apply to WSU-affiliated programs that fit you.

I want to change the world by being a physician who cares for patients with the cultural awareness that I’ve gained while studying abroad.
