Great news from WSU’s Student Financial Services’ WASFA team. As we strive toward a more seamless and automated method of processing our students’ Washington Application for Student Financial Aid (WASFA) submissions, we have revamped our verification selection process to align with the FAFSA process. Starting with the 2020–2021 school year, we will be selecting a much smaller percentage of WASFA students for verification. This will reduce processing time and allow us notify students of their final awards earlier.

It is important for students to provide accurate information in their WASFA. Incorrect information can slow down the awarding process and could result in less financial aid than what the student could otherwise qualify for.

The WASFA now has the Residency Affidavit built directly into the application. This eliminates the extra step of submitting the affidavit separately and allows us to work directly with WSU’s Office of the Registrar to establish preliminary in-state tuition for the student.
