The Cougar Marching Band (CMB) is gearing up for its new members with the application opening in February. For students who want to participate in music programs regardless of their major, participating in the CMB is a great opportunity. Students can continue to enjoy music and reap the benefits of being part of the band community at WSU. Most band members will tell you that being in band is like having an instant built in support system. Plus, music has been shown to provide many mental and emotional benefits, including increased self-discipline, stress relief and reduced anxiety, promoting teamwork, and improving memory. Music has also been linked to higher exam scores and better performance in math and science. These benefits are not just for music majors!

All Cougar Marching Band members receive a stipend, and may be able to receive scholarships that are only available to marching band members.

The entire Cougar Marching Band can be seen at every home football game, campus pep rallies, and other sporting and academic functions on and off campus.

There is a small annual fee of $50 to participate in the Cougar Marching Band. This money goes towards shirts, hat, uniform and instrument rental, sticks/cymbal pads for the drumline, and other operational costs. All other band related costs, such as food and travel costs, are covered by the Cougar Marching Band.

Encourage your student to get involved with CMB to gain the many benefits it can bring!
