Washington State University encourages students to participate in enriching, hands-on experiences such as academic researchinternships, and global competitions. A group of WSU students has accepted the challenge and will be participating in the U.S Department of Energy’s 2017 Solar Decathlon. WSU students from several different majors will join together to build a solar-powered house that is eye-catching, energy-efficient, and cost-effective. WSU students will build a 600 to 1,000 square foot solar home that will be judged on pre-specified criteria including affordability, comfortability, aesthetics, and design. This is one more practical opportunity that helps prepare WSU students for life after college.
