Have you heard?

The FAFSA for the 2017-18 academic year is now available! Students attending WSU for the 2017-18 year have a new set of deadlines. The FAFSA Priority Deadline is now January 31, 2017.

Beginning with the 2017-18 FAFSA, families will be required to report tax information and income from an earlier tax year. This means that for the 2017-18 FAFSA, families will report their 2015 tax information.

We understand that some families’ income may have changed significantly since the 2015 tax year. If this is the case, they still must complete the FAFSA with the required tax information (2015). Then, after filing the FAFSA, encourage students to contact the WSU Student Financial Services Office in March to begin the Special Circumstances process. Click here for more information on the special circumstance process.

Did You Know?

Students may be eligible to retrieve and transfer tax information into the FAFSA automatically by using the Internal Revenue Service Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT). If prompted in the FAFSA process, students/parents will click the blue link that states “IRS” to visit the irs.gov website and enter the requested information. By transferring the information directly from the IRS to the FAFSA, it reduces the likelihood of error on the FAFSA!

Early FAFSA information can be found on the WSU Student Financial Services website. If you have specific questions regarding a student’s account, please feel free to contact us at 509-335-9711 or by email at financialaid@wsu.edu.
