The WSU Transfer Clearinghouse is entering its second year of existence with a mission of providing information, resources, and support to students with transfer credit to ensure a smooth transition and a successful pathway to a completed WSU degree.

An exciting new addition to the Transfer Clearinghouse this fall is the opening of the Transfer Resource Center (TRC) located mid-campus in the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE) Room 403.

The TRC now provides a centralized location for prospective and current students and visitors to access the services provided by the Transfer Clearinghouse, a unit within the WSU Office of Undergraduate Education. These services include assistance with the transfer credit evaluation process and pre-transfer advising, access to campus-based resources, and promotion of transfer-specific clubs and activities. The TRC will also serve as the new home for WSU’s transfer student clubs, Tau Sigma (honor society) and Team Transfer.

“We want every student with transfer credit to have the best experience possible at WSU from the time they apply on through their graduation,” said Transfer Clearinghouse assistant director Waylon Safranski. “We aim to do that through our services which are a byproduct of our many collaborations with admissions counselors, academic advisors, and WSU College liaisons. It’s nice to now also have the Transfer Resource Center as a place to call home.”

In other projects, the Transfer Clearinghouse has been working with WSU Colleges and academic departments to establish more departmental course equivalencies for specific major requirements and thousands of University Common Requirements (UCORE) equivalencies have been added in the past year. Work has also begun on an updated equivalency database design layout, along with eventual enhancements to show prospective students how transfer credit applies toward WSU degrees. The Transfer Clearinghouse is also developing specific transfer student seminar courses, set to begin in spring 2017, to bring students together and assist with their transition

The Transfer Clearinghouse staff looks forward to hearing more from you and your students, and if you or your students are on campus, please stop by the TRC in CUE 403.
