Student Financial Services (SFS) understands how stressful the financial aid process can be for both parents and students, and our office is committed to helping you.

Up until now, you have had access to as much information about your student as you have wanted, but once the first day of classes begin, parents can no longer have access to all of their student’s information due to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA is a federal law which protects the privacy of student’s education records. For more information about how FERPA works check out this great FERPA 101 video.

What is Third Party Access, and how does it help you?

Third Party Access allows your student to grant access to their college information (i.e. grades, class specifics, charges/refunds, and financial aid) to any third party they wish.

The process is easy:

  1. Student must log on to their myWSU account: my.wsu.edu
  2. Click on Main Menu
  3. Select Self Service
  4. And click on Third Party Access

You may also review the step-by-step video instructions on granting Third Party Access.

We encourage parents and students to discuss and set-up Third Party Access soon, so you have plenty of time to ask any questions before school starts.

As always, Student Financial Services staff is here for students and parents and we’d love to help you!
