Figuring out how to pay for college can be a challenge. Here are some friendly reminders that may assist you in financing your student’s future years at WSU.

First, remember to fill out the WSU General Scholarship Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year your student is attending WSU. The WSU Scholarship Application for the 2016-2017 school year will open this fall and must be submitted by January 31, 2016. The 2016-2017 FAFSA will become available January 1, 2016 and has a WSU priority filing date of February 15.

In addition, make sure you and your student understand the eligibility requirements and renewal criteria for scholarships received. For example, many scholarships require the student maintains a certain GPA or remains enrolled in at least 12 credits. Continue encouraging your student to work hard to meet the specified renewal criteria each year.
