Checklist for Transfer students

1. Make your credits count. Use our transfer equivalency website to understand how your credits may transfer to WSU. Students'advisors can review WSU requirements when planning to transfer at catalog.wsu.edu.


2. Think early about transferring. Some WSU programs, such as architecture, encourage students to think about transferring early. For applicants with less than one full year of college-level work, high school transcripts (or GED certification) and SAT/ACT test scores may be requested.


3. Work on your writing portfolio. Your Junior Writing Portfolio must be submitted to WSU no later than the end of the first semester after you have completed 60 credit hours. Students who enroll with more than 60 credit hours must initiate the portfolio process by the end of their first semester at WSU. Original, graded papers from any college or university can be included. For more information, visit writingprogram.wsu.edu.


4. Apply for special WSU scholarshps for transfer students. Incoming students from Washington state community colleges may qualify for the Transfer Achievement Award, a merit-based award renewable for a second year. Selection is based on a combination of grades, transfer credits, and need.


5.  Check out job opportunities. A wide variety of job opportunities are available at WSU, both on campus and in the community. Check out studentjobs.wsu.edu.


6. Apply for financial aid. Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid should be subitted between January 1 and February 15.


7.  Visit Campus.

8.  Meet with your WSU regional enrollment counselor. Ask questions! Your regional enrollment counselor is one of your best sources of information on preparing for college applying to WSU. Contact your WSU enrollment counselor.


9.  Apply early
. Apply online by the priority application date (paper applications available on request). The priority date for fall semester is January 31.

The standard application fee is $50. Students facing difficult financial circumstances in which the application fee would be a hardship can request a fee waiver.

10. If you are offered admission to WSU:

  • Reserve your space by paying your $200 tuition deposit by May 1.

  • Explore housing in Pullman.

  • Register for a summer orientation program. You'll need to attend orientation to register for classes. You'll also find out more about the University, meet students and professors, get acclimated to campus before school starts, and get your questions answered.
